PublishPDF Support

Below is a table of the known Support concerns regarding PublishPDF and PublishPDF Pro

Problem: Solution:
1. Corrupt message when trying to install Please email help@manac.com.au with a brief description of the problem.
2. "Error 5" or "Error 32: Could not install the printer driver"
  1. Go to "My Computer" > "Control Panel"
  2. Open "Printer and Faxes"
  3. Select "Add a Printer"
  4. Uncheck the box "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer" – then press "Next"
  5. On the second page leave the default selections and press "Next"
  6. Select any printer manufacturer and model and click "Next"
  7. Press "Next" until you get to the Print Test Page; on this page select "No" and press "Next"
  8. Press "Next" until the Printer is installed.

Please note that these steps are required only on a very small percentage of computers to force windows to clean some of its internal configuration settings.  Now you can run again the PublishPDF installation and the installation should be successful.

3. How do I set PublishPDF to output a PDF file on a larger page than A4? – perhaps, A3, A2, or A1. Select PublishPDF as your printer in the normal manner, but click the 'Properties' button as shown below:

This will bring up the next screen – click on the 'Advanced' button under the Paper/Quality Tab:

On the next screen, click the 'Edit Custom Page' button.  On the pop-up window, enter the size of the page you wish to use.  Change the measurement unit to Millimeters, and use:
A3:  297 x 420 mm
A2:  420 x 594 mm
A1:  594 x 840 mm

If you are outputting your PDF for printing purposes, set the Paper Feed Direction to Short Edge First for Portrait, or Long Edge First for Landscape format.

4. "Error 13 Type Mismatch" message. Click "Start" then "Programs" then "PublishPDF"

Click "PublishPDF Dispatcher"

5. I have PublishPDF Pro and my Serial Number doesn't work. There have been two versions of PublishPDF Pro.  The earlier version used very long Serial Numbers.  If you have this version, please try one of the replacements below.

Username: PPDFPRO
Serial: 6773-7381-97A5-AEFF-0119-313C-4653-5317

-or-

525E-5E6C-8290-99EA-EC04-1C27-313E-3E02

Note that these Serial Numbers will not work with the newer release of the program.  If your existing Serial Number is an 8-digit one email help@manac.com.au for help.
6. PublishPDF (standard or Pro) does not work properly on NT 4 with SP6. Please email help@manac.com.au and request a new CD.  Be sure to include your serial number when making your request.
7. Text is not showing in PDF when viewing with Adobe Reader Reinstall the Adobe Reader program or update it.
8. Error occurred deleting existing file "code 5" When prompted with this message choose 'ignore'.
9. Images aren't being displayed Make sure the images have valid extensions.  If you insert an image into the document and then save the file as a PDF, when creating the PDF file, PublishPDF looks through the file for all the conversion types it needs to include for the final output file.  If there is any document or picture with no file extension it is not recognised.  You should save pictures with a valid file extension such as *.gif or *.jpg (or the appropriate extension type).
10. "Runtime Error 339" Occurs when two versions of PPDF are installed and/or user has out-dated VB run-time libraries.  Either:
  • Uninstall PublishPDF completely and then reinstall using the same registration details,
    OR:
  • download and install the latest VB runtime files from http://support.microsoft.com
11. "I lost my Pro CD" You can download a PublishPDF Pro self-extracting file here (23 Mb) – it will unpack into your Documents & Settings / Default User / Local Settings / Temp folder and will auto-run to start the installation procedure.  You will need your Serial Number.  It is safe the delete the unpack folder after use.
